Service Update: Addition of Targets for Infectious Diarrhea Panel (IDP) Testing – Blastocystis hominis, Dientamoeba fragilis, astrovirus, and sapovirus

Effective December 2025, Dynacare will test and report results lastocystis hominis, Dientamoeba fragilis, astrovirus, and sapovirus from fecal specimens submitted for IDP assessment. Action Required Healthcare providers should be aware of the change; however, no specific action is required.
Processing issues to BCCDC

Due to an unexpected partner processing issue, some referral samples collected in our LHSC’s in mid-November that were destined for testing at the BCCDC could not be tested. Patients and physicians are advised if a compromised sample requires recollection, the physician must submit a new requisition, and the patient must return to the lab for recollection.
